MKTG 349- Week 12- Consumer Behavior

Knowing a consumers wants

When it comes to consumer the simple rules of supply and demand apply's to all. Consumers use various web sites that help them find what they are looking for. Most consumers are looking for the product they desire and then the location. Location is key because many consumers will likely look for a place near them that has the item they want. Four out of Five consumers said that they wanted ads to be customized to where they are located. Most consumers find it easier to go to the store in person and find the product. This gives them an opportunity to look at the product in person instead of on screen and actually get a feel for it.

According to studies being done, 34% of consumers who use smart phones or computers to look up a product near them, end up eventually going to a store near them where that product can be found. Location is very important. Location extensions are a great way to get more consumers. Location bid adjustment are important in letting your consumer know all the information necessary for them to get your product.

This information should include

  • Specific area
  • Cities
  • Zip codes
  • Directions
  • Inventory
  • Pricing
All these things will ultimately determine if a consumer wants to buy products from your site or store. Smart phones are being owned by nearly everyone, this means that the future in buying products is in apps. Apps are being used to make shopping that much easier by giving the consumer the option to buy a product by a touch of a button. According to research being done, 37% of mobile searches trigger additional action and conversations that lead to a consumer either wanting or not wanting to buy a product.

  • All features
  • Marketing objectives
All campaigns are centered around Google and their advertising network. These networks include Google Search Network, Google display Network, and Youtube Network. These networks determine where your ads will appear and how the customers will see them.

Using Social Media to Boost Traffic

Get on Twitter

  • Twitter is a great way to bring traffic to your site. It is great because the purpose of Twitter is to inform people on what you or your company is up to and on new merchandise. It tweets out live time tweets. A company using Twitter can have several tweets in a day as opposed to other social media sites.

Start a Facebook Page

  • Facebook is a great way to expand your platform all around the world. It helps you branch out to the world and meet new people. It also gives you an option of creating a specific page for your company or product. Facebook can be used to get you ideas out via pictures or status posts.

Regularly share content

  • It is important to constantly share content with your viewers. Facebook lets you share picture and statue checks, whereas Instagram shares images of your products which lets your consumers see what you have in terms of merchandise. It is very helpful for your viewers to see your products because that is what brought to them you site in the first place. Constantly keep your audience aware of what is happening.

Ask others to promote your site

  • Asking people to promote your site is very helpful because it helps bring more people into your company. It is helpful in getting a larger group of people to your site. One person alone cant handle all the traffic to their page alone.

Implement sharing tools on your site

  • It is important to share the same or similar things on all your social media site. Flare is an excellent tool used to share a post shared on one social media account to many.

Write compelling content

  • Make sure the content that is being posted is relevant to your company and products. If it is not interesting, than people wont return to your site, and therefor you end up losing consumers instead of gaining them. Make the content interesting and relevant to the consumers wants.

MKTG 349- Week 8- Using Custom Ad Scheduling

The use of times is becoming a huge part of creating ads. One can now create timers on their ads to make them show that specific ad at the specific time that they want. This is especially effective in terms of gaining the most clicks because a certain part of the day may generate more clicks. You may want your ad to show whenever a customer searches online. Or perhaps you only want to show your ad on certain days, or during business hours when you’re there to handle customer inquiries.
For campaigns with “All features” enabled, you can use custom ad scheduling to:

  • Specify certain hours and/or days of the week when you want your ads to show
  • Set bid adjustments to increase or decrease your bids for specific days and times
Some company's require a person to post at certain times of the day, but with a timer, that is completely eliminated and it does it manually. Specific dates can include different types of ads and different brand recognition. Time is a key aspect in gaining customers.
Five ways ad scheduling can improve your campaign
1. Schedule Your Ads to Show When You’re Present in the Business.
2. Lower or Disable your AdWords Campaigns During Low-Response Periods.
3. Increase Bids for High-Converting Time Frames.
4. Schedule your Ads to Show Higher on the Weekdays with the Greatest Conversion Rate.
5. Bonus: Use Location Bid Modifier to Schedule Your Bidding per City, State or County.

MKTG 349- Week 7- Creative that Clicks

One of the most important things to get right in your search ad is the creative, or messaging, you put into it. Better creatives improve ad relevance and drive more qualified clicks

  • Consumers tend to engage with ads that appear most relevant to their search. Consider dynamic keyword insertion for a more automated approach.
Write Simple Compelling Copy
  • Users are more likely to engage with ads that help them self-select before they click. That means more qualified clicks and conversions for you.
Tailor ads for Mobile Searches
  • Mobile creatives are a better experience for mobile users and draw the best possible results from them.
Use ad Extensions
  • Ad extensions typically lift CTR's. They add useful info for searchers and help your message get noticed.
Test and Optimize Creatives
  • Create high volume ads that help you have a better understanding of how you are doing.

MKTG 348- Week 10- Rank Tracking

Rank Trafficking: Is it useful in modern SEO?

Rank trafficking has been evolving year after year but is it useful? The answer can vary. The beauty of rank trafficking is that based on keywords it can either bring people into your web page or not work at all. Keywords are a huge factor that in the end determines whether one brings people to their page. If Keywords are long-tail keywords, then most likely it wont bring many people to the page.

The question still stands if we should be using rank trafficking. In my opinion i think yes, because there are many different ways to use them, and it gives your customers an idea of what your company can produce.

These are some of the ways that rank trafficking is used today

1. Revenue and Margins

  • This helps determine the important things such as popularity of a product, revenue, and margins.Tagging system is used to annotate the difference between the two. Keywords are a big factor in this.

2. Competitors

  • Rank trafficking is used to keep track of your competitors. This helps companies see if they are or aren't doing good against the competition. It helps them make changes if results aren't as good. Analysis is huge.

3. Algorithmic Changes

  • Looking for changes across various query spaces. Google is allowed to make changes. Different affect in different markets. Not all algorithm changes are created equal.

4. Low hanging fruit

  • Another approach is to cross reference ranking data with SERP CTR data and look under-performing terms that either have a poor SERP CTR, or are sitting on the outside looking in. Small changes help bring more people in. Increase with little work.

5. Universal opportunities

  • Universal elements (images, news videos, etc..). Applications such as Authority labs can track these things.

6. Informational over commercial

  • Content strategy. Break up into segments. Helps to better target content in the future.

MKTG 349- Week6- NationalTigerSanctuary Update

National Tiger Sanctuary Campaign Update

Over the past three months, I have been closely working with a site called Nationaltigersanctuary.com
The reason for this is that i made it my goal to try and raise as much awareness as possible by creating a campaign through Google Adwords. I haven't monitored the campaign in the last few weeks and when i logged on today it was great to see the results.

My campaign has gotten a total of 606 clicks in the last week or so, meaning that people are seeing my ads when they go on google and type in certain keywords that connect to my campaign. Different campaigns have different keywords. I created a campaign for a white tiger named Madison, and a lion called Leo. Both are different exotic creatures, and therefore need different keywords.

Some of the keywords that have been very successful so far in terms of generating clicks are Lion, Lion facts, Africa Lion. Those have been very key to generating 412 of the 606 total clicks that i have received thus far. Madison on the other hand has not generated nearly as much clicks. This made we think today why is one generating so many more clicks than the other? Are keywords the reason? Or is there something else to it?

That is a question that I don't necessarily have the answer.

Overall I think my campaign is doing very well in terms of bringing people to the Nationaltigersanctuary site. Hopefully more and more people visit Nationaltigersanctuary.com and donate to help create an even better living environment for the exotic creatures that dwell there.

MKTG 349- Week5- Search Advertising

Consumer Behavior and the Impact of Search

Google partners helps anyone who is using it by giving them an idea on what most consumers want in terms of products and advertisement. One needs to be able to attract the attention of the consumer so that they can then go visit your site. Keywords are key aspects of helping bring consumers to your page because it is related to what they have recently been looking up on search engine sites such as google.

What do consumers want?

Keywords are the key to this. In the past ten years the internet has really taken off and in today's society people are using it at some point or another on a daily basis. This is due to work, school, or just for social media. Whatever the reason, keywords are what the consumer types in that help determine if they are interested in your site or product.

The next question is what do people want?

As described in the words of google, "When people realize they want or need something-a product, a vacation, a family activity, a piece of information- they instinctively turn to search." Searches can be made form everywhere and anywhere. Most of us have a smart phone or a laptop that gives us access to the internet.

These are the four ways that people go about purchasing items using the web.
Want--to--Know
Want--to--go
What--to--do
What--to--buy

Each of these searches represents an opportunity for the consumer and the producer.
